Important Information

Highland Lodges & Shepherd Huts

The check-in time is 4.00 pm and check-out is 10.00 am.

The housekeeper only has a window between 10.00 am and 4.00 pm to clean and change the lodge. Any disturbance during that period can be very inconvenient for her. With advance warning it can be arranged for guests to drop off luggage at the lodge during the day, or organise a late departure if that is of significance.

When you arrive the lodge will have been cleaned and all the linen / towels changed.  It is expected that the lodge will be kept reasonably clean during the week and left so at departure.

Atholl Estates supports Distance Aware.

Restrictions in Scotland are lifted, and mask wearing is no longer a legal requirement, but still widely encouraged. As we continue to deal with the ongoing Coronavirus threat, please be aware and keep people safe by practicing social distancing where possible. You may begin to see people out and about displaying the Distance Aware Shield which is an awareness campaign being promoted across all countries of the United Kingdom. If you see someone wearing this symbol, please take extra care around them and give them some space.

Thank you for being distance aware.

We kindly ask that all guests read and adhere to the Lodge Rules and Regulations, (and other requirements as stated in the Booking Terms and Conditions), in order to help ensure a safe and enjoyable holiday for all.

Please contact the Lodge Manager should you require any assistance during your stay or need to report a problem.

All of the Highland Lodges are fitted with Wi-Fi, and the passwords for this can be located inside the lodge welcome pack.

Yes, dogs are welcome to all Lodges and Cottages across the estate and Curlew Shepherds Hut. We do not put a limit on the number of dogs but we do ask that they stay on the ground floor and off the furniture. Please make sure you pick up after your dog before you leave.

A dog is only allowed on the understanding that it will never be left unattended in the accommodation and must be kept on a lead at all times in surrounding fields. Dog bedding is to be brought and used, and dogs must be refrained from going upon seating, beds or any soft furnishings.

There are extensive walking routes surrounding the lodge, which are perfect for exercising your dog. Please be mindful that this is a working estate with livestock and other wildlife on trails, so please keep dogs under control to minimise disruption.

When you arrive, the lodge will have been cleaned and all the linen / towels changed. The housekeeper lives nearby and can be contacted in case of incidental questions, but she does not clean the lodge through the week or get involved with cooking / clearing up unless by separate arrangement directly with you. It is expected that the lodge will be kept reasonably clean during the week and left so at departure.

The housekeeper may be available by separate agreement to help during the week but is not obliged to do so. If you require additional help please contact the estate office at least one month before your arrival and we can confirm availability.

Travel cots and high chairs may be hired at an additional cost, subject to availability. Please make requests at the time of booking. Cot linen is not provided.

Bed linen and towels are provided. When you arrive, the lodge will have been cleaned and all the linen / towels changed. If you require changes to the linen or towels throughout the week, this will need to be arranged in advance with the housekeeper.

Cot linen is not provided.

All accommodation is strictly NON-SMOKING. Non-compliance will be seen as a breach of this contract, and a deep cleaning housekeeping charge of £100 will be applied if necessary. As a fire precaution, use of candles is not permitted inside accommodation.

Properly constructed barbecues are permitted when placed outside, off the ground at least 3 meters from any Highland Lodge or vehicle. To avoid a fire, coals must be fully extinguished before placing in bins. No fire wood allowed at any time. All barbecues must be extinguished before 11pm. Open fires, of any nature, are strictly prohibited.

In order to help us maintain a high standard for all our guests we ask you to do the following before you leave:

  • Leave the toilets and baths reasonably clean

  • Empty all rubbish bins and remove rubbish to the bins outside
