Multi-skilled Trade Operative

Hours: full-time, permanent

Atholl Estates covers an area of approximately 120,000 acres in Highland Perthshire, managed centrally from the Estate Office in Blair Atholl, a picturesque village close to the resort town of Pitlochry and less than 2 hours’ drive from Edinburgh and Glasgow.

The estates are probably best known for Blair Castle, an iconic Scottish castle whose history dates back to the 13th century. The castle is open to visitors throughout the year, and we also have a significant number of group visits. We host corporate and public events, functions and weddings throughout the year. In conjunction with the Castle, we have in excess of 200 tenanted properties, commercial buildings, a number of farmsteads.

Atholl Estates is run on a commercial basis, but with a strong element of corporate, social and environmental responsibility. The core businesses are tourism, farming, forestry, house lettings, hydro energy, conservation, field sports and property development.

The Role:

Working closely as part of the Property Team and working in collaboration with approved contractors this role will help to deliver the best maintenance service to our stakeholders and tenants alike. The successful candidate will have to work both diligently and effectively within this small team to deliver a wide variety of tasks ranging from groundwork through to finishes depending on the demands of the work. All work is completed to a high standard and in a safe manner. A hands-on approach is essential for this role, and you will be expected to be flexible in their approach to tasks, either working alone or as part of a team.

You will need to be a natural team player. A close and effective working relationship with the Property Team and the wider estate as a collective is vital for both succeeding in this role and ensuring the Estates is maintained in a correct manner and the property portfolio is improved.

Blair Castle & Gardens

Castle Ticketing Assistant

Hours: 3-4 days per week
Seasonal contract: August – 31st October 2024
Rate of Pay: National Living Wage

Main Purpose:
Greeting visitors, selling and checking tickets, operating a computerised till & data capture system, cash handling and record keeping.
Upselling specific products to ensure sales targets are met.
Supervising car and coach parking and assisting with visitor flow management.
To provide the highest standard of customer care for individual, disabled and group visitors and assist with the security of the Castle and its exhibits.
A smart appearance and personable manner are essential.

MAIN DUTIES:

1. Meeting and greeting group and individual visitors, dealing with enquiries, and assisting the castle team in providing a 5 Star visitor experience, working between our Ticketing Office in the grounds and our Entrance Hall.
2. Selling and checking tickets and the associated cash handling, credit card processing, etc., using appropriate equipment and technology.
3. Upsell and cross-sell specific products to ensure sales targets are met e.g. guidebooks and annual passes
4. Reconciliation of cash at end of day and appropriate reporting.
5. Ensuring the security of all cash and payment vouchers at all times.
6. Working closely with Castle Accounts and administration personnel and complying with directives and requests as appropriate.
7. Maintaining accurate and up to date records at all times including special ticket sales, complimentary tickets, and database information, etc
8. Administration as required including help to maintain/photocopy stationery and equipment stocks.
9. Assisting in the delivery of marketing and sales initiatives as directed by the Head Guide and Castle Operations Manager.
10. Assist with maintaining the security and safety of visitors, staff, the Castle, and its contents.
11. Assisting and supporting our Guiding Team in maintaining a high level of customer interaction for which an understanding of the Castle and its contents is required.
12. Provide assistance and support to teams within the Castle enterprise as required, including Guiding, Housekeeping, Retail and Administration.

Blair Castle Caravan Park

Seasonal Housekeeper

Fixed Term
Hours: Full-time (40 hours per week)

Blair Castle Caravan Park in Blair Atholl is at the entrance to the Cairngorms National Park making it a convenient and beautiful base for exploring Highland Perthshire. Situated within the grounds of the magnificent Blair Castle & Gardens, it’s a truly unique location steeped in history and charm.

Main Purpose:
To assist with housekeeping and cleaning duties in all areas of Blair Castle Caravan Park. As frequent contact with our visitors is part of the daily routine, a smart appearance and a high standard of customer care are expected.

Main duties:

To assist with general housekeeping duties, including vacuuming and cleaning of Park accommodation, such as Woodland Lodges and Static Caravans.
Cleaning of public areas and Shower Blocks across the Park, including evening shifts.
Cleaning of Reception area, Offices, Games room, Staff room and toilets.
To assist with deep cleaning duties as required.
To assist with laundry and other related duties as required.
To maintain high cleaning standards across the Park as required and directed by the Housekeeping Supervisor, and management spot checks.
Follow procedures for reporting any maintenance issues.
Comply with health and safety directives and organisational policy, including fire drills.
Comply with organisational policy for green tourism and recycling.
Provide assistance and support to other teams across the Caravan Park and Atholl Estates as required.
Attend team meetings and training sessions as required.
Safe handling and transportation of cleaning chemicals.

The Caravan Park is open seven days a week. Staff work on rotas arranged throughout the week and weekend. Flexibility is required to meet the changing demands of the season.

Pay: £12.00 per hour

Highland Lodge Housekeepers

Atholl Estates is looking for Lodge Cleaners and Housekeepers to help care for their beautiful and historic properties in the Tulliemet area, Dunkeld, Blair Atholl and Struan

Tullibardine Restaurant

Blair Castle Chef

Contract: Seasonal (until 31st October)

Hours: 2-3 days per week

Minimum chef de partie level 4 years cooking experience within high volume hotel or restaurant environment . 2- 3days a week from £14.50 p/h dependent on experience.

The catering department within Blair Castle has recently moved to an in-house operation, meaning it is under large changes. We are looking to develop the catering offering to produce good, fresh, local, and seasonal food for our customers to enjoy.

We’re looking for a Chef de Partie with a minimum of 4 years cooking experience within a high volume hotel or restaurant environment to join our team.

Pay: £14.50 per hour depending on experience.
