Sustainable energy

Installed at Blair Castle Caravan Park in 2025, our 145kW photovoltaic panels will generate one-third of our electricity on-site, and supply energy to the grid when demand is low. This is a significant step in reducing our dependence on traditional energy sources and lowering our carbon footprint which is a key objective in our long-term plans.

This investment complements other green initiatives like our energy-efficient glamping pods and the air source heat pumps at reception, all aimed at creating a more environmentally responsible holiday experience.

While positioned with care to respect the protected nature of the surrounding landscape, these panels are essential to supporting Atholl Estates’ broader efforts to create a sustainable future. This includes initiatives focused on sustainability, carbon sequestering to protect our environment, enhancing biodiversity, and utilising regenerative farming practices. We’re committed to restoring and conserving our natural and built heritage.

Nature’s integration

In keeping with our ethos of working in harmony with the natural world, the carefully selected planting around the panels will naturally soften their appearance, maturing into a screen and bird-friendly habitat over the next 5-7 years.

Wildflower combined with a mixed planting scheme, will further enhance the area by creating beautiful blooms that are crucial for attracting bees and other pollinating insects, thereby supporting and increasing local biodiversity.
