The Atholl Highlanders Parade is back!
We are beyond thrilled to announce the return of the Atholl Highlanders Parade and Gathering in May 2022.
The Atholl Highlanders are the only remaining private army in Europe and act as the personal bodyguard to the Duke of Atholl, who is Chief of Clan Murray. Whilst they don’t have any military role, they are armed with Lee Metford rifles and include a pipe band.
Programme of events:
11.00 am: Atholl Highlanders Talk, Castle Ballroom. With Keren Guthrie, Archivist, and CSM Geoff Crerar, Atholl Highlanders
1.15 pm: Blair Castle closes
2.30 pm: The Atholl Highlanders Parade, Blair Castle forecourt:
March On under command of RSM Graham Jack
Major Aubyn Stewart-Wilson, Parade Commander takes over command from RSM. Officers fall in.
3.00 pm: The inspecting officer Major, The Marquess of Tullibardine accompanied by Lt. Col. The Earl of Kinnoull DL,
Commanding Officer of the Atholl Highlanders arrive on parade.
General salute
Field gun fires.
Parade Commander orders the Colours to be marched on.
Inspection of the Pipes and Drums and the Highlanders.
Music from the Pipe Band.
March past and salute to the inspecting officer.
Presentation of Awards and Trophies by The Marquess of Tullibardine
Moment of Remembrance for Piper Alex Duncan, Atholl Highlanders (1994-2020) played by the Pipes and Drums.
