The Jacobites
Blair Castle is notable as the last castle in Britain to be besieged. In 1746, Lord George Murray, brother of James, the 2nd Duke of Atholl, attempted to reclaim his family home for the Jacobite cause. However, before he could succeed, he was called away to join Bonnie Prince Charlie at the Battle of Culloden. The castle houses many treasures relating to these turbulent times.
Atholl Highlanders
Hear how Queen Victoria was guarded by Atholl men during her stay at Blair Castle, and how this led to the creation of Europe’s only private army – the Atholl Highlanders. View the historic record books and photographs that show the regiment and its activities from inception to the present day.
Lady Evelyn’s lace collection
Created by the daughter of the 7th Duke during her stay in mainland Europe, the collection includes items of exceptional quality lace both worked on and collected by Lady Evelyn. (Please note this is a viewing of the lace collection and not a tour)
Pricing:
£42.00 per person including VAT, (with a minimum charge of £420).
These tours must be booked in advance.
Please note any catering requirements would be an additional cost.
The castle’s guidebook is £5.50 and can also be added to the cost.
