Guidance for Public Access

The public are welcome to enjoy the many miles of way marked trails on Atholl Estates subject to behaving responsibly. The SCOTTISH OUTDOOR ACCESS CODE provides helpful guidance. Specifically there are also some things to be aware of, some of which change seasonally and we will post that information here.

During the stag stalking season (1 August to 20 October), we ask hillwalkers to keep to the main routes (see below), or use our Hillphone service to find out where stalking is taking place and plan a route round it. The Hillphone runs daily throughout the period and is updated at 8am. A notice will also be posted daily at the Glen Tilt Car Park at approx. 8.15am.

Hillphone phone number: 01796 481740.

No stalking takes place on Sundays.

Main hill routes which are ok to use throughout the stalking season:

Beinn a Ghlo: main ridge path and usual descent route via Airgiod Bheinn and path round eastern side of hills.
Carn a Chlamain: SE ridge route and path from behind Forest Lodge to summit
Beinn Dearg: path from Allt Scheicheachan to summit
An Sgarsoch and Carn Ealar: approaches from north and connecting ridge between the two hills.

Ben Vuirich: routes to summit from north
Beinn Mheadhonach: usually the ridge route from the south is ok, but please check the Hillphone.

Overnight parking of cars or campervans/caravans is not permitted at our Cally, Glen Tilt and Logierait car parks.  If you have a self-contained motorhome or campervan with its own facilities you can find out more information about our CARAVAN PARK.
