We typically attract 145,000 paying visitors and over 70,000-bed night guests each year. The castle and gardens are five-star graded by Visit Scotland and a popular venue for weddings and private functions. The caravan park is four-star graded and currently recognized by the AA as its premier accredited park in Scotland.

We are currently looking to fill the following vacancies:

 

2 x Park Wardens – full time with accommodation

We have a fantastic opportunity to join our award-winning caravan park warden team 1 x Full time and 1 x 13 month fixed term contract with the chance of extension. Both positions come with accommodation if needed. A varied and exciting role, being one of the main points of contact for all our guests in the park.

THE ROLE INCLUDES:

– Carrying out general building and caravan maintenance

– Grounds work

– Security and health & safety

– Provision of excellent customer service

A clean driving license is essential.

You will be part of a friendly and close working team on the park and also the wider estate. This is a full-time role, working 5 days out of 7 during our open season. Atholl Estates Lodges Senior Housekeeper – Part time

As part of that business mix and beyond our caravan park, we currently offer eleven self-catered properties across the estate, with three more scheduled during the coming year and further plans to expand this part of our business thereafter. We also offer a range of activities, some of which are open for the public to book and others that are exclusive to lodge guests.

The estate has so much to share, being an ideal base for walking, cycling and cultural sightseeing and we see great potential to make Atholl ever more popular as a destination for rural breaks.

A part-time position has become available to take a leading role with our housekeeping team, to ensure we deliver exceptional standards while creating a happy and supported working environment.

 

JOB SPECIFICATION:

Reporting directly to the Lodges Manager, the role demands an eye for detail, experience with holiday home housekeeping and a natural aptitude for leading and inspiring people. The core objective of this role is to organise, observe and motivate while leading from the front, as this will be an operational placement. The senior housekeeper will be working alongside their team.

 

THE ROLE INCLUDES:

  • Undertaking exceptionally high standards of housekeeping at our self-catering accommodation across the estate, including the caravan park when required
  • Supporting the lodge manager in the recruitment and development of the lodge housekeeper team
  • Establishing clear training guidance related to written standards of how the property is to be cleaned and presented, both inside and defined exterior areas such as window cills, doorsteps, patios and balconies
  • In liaison with the lodge manager, establishing staffing rotas on a monthly basis to support the booking timetable
  • Monitoring standards of laundry from our laundrette suppliers and delivery/uplift service
  • Maintaining high standards of tidiness and appropriate levels of stock in our storerooms through the effective use of an inventory
  • Monitoring housekeeping stocks and providing the lodge manager with product details for purchase orders in a timely manner
  • Ensuring high and consistent levels of cleanliness and presentation across the properties, aiming to work beside each housekeeper regularly to guide, encourage and motivate. Using photographic records of each room in each lodge to avoid changes to layout gradually developing
  • Periodically auditing specified lodge inventories against actual inventories to ensure housekeepers are maintaining levels
  • Noting customer requests/complaints and passing them on to the lodge manager
  • Listing and overseeing that winter work which includes spring cleaning and any post maintenance reinstatement, is done by the housekeeping team
  • Training and encouraging housekeepers to notice when maintenance work is required, including minor items like window cleaning or blocked gutters and to report these matters to the lodge manager
  • Supporting housekeepers on occasions where maintenance or repair requirements are not being attended to
  • Working collaboratively with the caravan park senior housekeeper to support work rotas during peak periods

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Previous experience in housekeeping roles where high standards are expected
  • Previous roles involving responsibility as a team leader
  • An eye for detail
  • Perseverance to deliver excellence through effective teamwork
  • A can-do and resilient attitude to problem-solving
  • Organised and efficient
  • Literate in IT, mainly in the use of Microsoft Office and the internet
  • Discrete and responsible with private or confidential information
  • Cheerful and co-supportive with peers and staff

REMUNERATION

A competitive hourly rate is on offer, negotiable based on previous experience. The role offers a guaranteed minimum hourly week of 20 hours.

Trainee ACCA/CIMA Accountant or Apprentice

RESPONSIBLE TO:: Finance Manager

STARTING: As soon as is possible

JOB SPECIFICATION:

A new and rare opportunity has arisen to join the finance team at the Estate as a trainee accountant. This role will be hugely varied and is aimed at offering the successful applicant the opportunity to learn all aspects of the finance function, giving a sound technical foundation in all aspects of accounting and business whilst progressing through a sponsored professional accountancy qualification. This is most likely to be ACCA but if candidates have a strong preference to other qualifications we are open to considering these.

The role will offer exposure to all aspects of the estate, including the prestigious Blair Castle visitor attraction as well as the successful Blair Castle Caravan Park, several rural businesses and significant investment plans over the coming years.

The role is suited to anyone wanting to start a career in accountancy or to further their accounting career by building on the foundational skills required and studying towards a professional qualification at the same time. Ideally, the candidate will be digitally skilled, able to use modern online systems and proficient in Excel. However, all of these can be taught as part of the program if required. It is crucial that the successful candidate is; comfortable with learning new things, hard-working, diligent and inquisitive about how to improve processes and find efficiencies in current approaches, striving for continual improvement and innovation.

The successful candidate will receive a competitive local salary for this level of role, flexible to a degree on the level of experience, as well as funding for professional subscriptions, registrations, study materials and first-round exams. They will also receive extended periods of leave during their professional qualification to allow suitable time for study and examinations. The candidate will be taking a self-study approach to the qualification, however, regular time will be made available by finance staff at the Estate to assist with questions on study material. A flexible approach to working is in place both in terms of location and level of time commitment. It would be expected for the level of training required that this role would predominantly be on site where possible.

Key responsibilities will be shaped during the traineeship based on the needs of the business and areas of skills, interest and developing experience of the candidate. It is likely to involve acting as cover for various members of the finance team during any periods of leave or sickness and helping to develop ad-hoc projects within finance and the business as a whole.

The ideal successful candidate will be a self-starter who is able to build good relationships across the business and help communicate financial information to operational staff.
